I am trying to identify the town in Russia where this family is from (see the grey box in column 5). I think it says Caralineslow?? For the Russia experts, any thoughts on where this might be? Thanks!

12/13/2017 5:18 AM Might be Ekaterinoslav = Dnepropetrovsk = Dnipro, Ukraine today
12/13/2017 8:31 AM I can give a couple of general hints. One is the usual--study the handwriting on the manifest that looks like it was written by the same person. Use letters from words that you can make out to figure out the letters in the town name. Also, the same town may be elsewhere on the manifest in better handwriting. You might also be in luck since this form is in German. There is a period two-volume gazetteer called Ritter's geographisch-statistisches Lexikon. If a local library does not have it, try interlibrary loan through the library.
