Hello. I'd be grateful for a word-for-word translation of this Yahrzeit tablet of my great great grandmother, Ita (maiden name KACHINSKI). I'm told it says "Eata, daughter of Zvi Hirsh the Cohan." I know nothing of this side of the family, so please advise on the date and all other information. I have a photo of the full tablet - please let me know if that would hold any clues such as location information. Thanks very much!

6/7/2017 10:49 PM Hello Julie,

As you have indicated the name is Mrs. Eeteh/Itah, daughter of Reb Tzvi Hersh, the Kohane, of blessed memory. 1) This tell us for certain that her father had passed away before her death. 2) It also indicate that she was a married woman.

She died on the 10th day of the Hebrew month of Adar II. When there is a leap year, there is a second month of Adar, and in the year that she died the date of her death was during the 2nd month of Adar.

The final five letters stand for the acronym which translates to "May her soul be bound up in the bonds of eternal life."....Jo

Itteh (short "i") and the last vowel cannot be "a" or "ah".
