The Polish text from the back of this photo is in the accompanying Viewmate image. Any input would be appreciated, about the type of photo, the studio "Zaklad" and/or "Blitz," Was it typical to photograph a child with a ball? Etc.

Photographic Studio "Blitz" (which in German means 'flash', Lodz, Konstantynowska Street 14.

Not sure if this was typical but I have a similar picture (also taken in a studio) of my grandmother, as a young girl, with a hen :)
8/21/2014 11:46 PM Hello Karen,

I am guessing that there are two possibilities for the ball.

1) It may have been her favorite toy.

2) It was a good technique to use some prop in the hands of a child to keep him/her focused on an object and to have their hands and arms under predictable control.

Just something for you to consider....Jo
