Can anyone help be decipher the name on line 22 of this passenger list. The name on line 24 seems to be the same. He is my great-uncle Kreines who changed his name to Isaac once he was in America. Has anyone ever heard of this Hebrew name?

6/8/2014 8:55 PM The name is Itsig. A common short form of the Hebrew name Yitzchak.

At the end of the passenger list there is a Board of Special Inquiry page and a Detained Aliens List. He appears on both with Itsig plainly spelled out.

The Detained Aliens and BSI pages are not indexed on Ellis Island Data Base but are indexed on Ancestry.com. You can also go through Ellis Island, page by page, until you come to these sections. Sometime EIDB posted their film images in reverse order, so the pages of interest are before the first passenger page.
6/9/2014 7:37 AM I second the first response. Itzig is a Yiddish form of the Hebrew Yitzchach, and obvious for Isaac in America.
6/9/2014 8:12 AM it looks like "itzig" to me, which is a more likely spelling anyway.
