I can't read Hebrew, but someone told me that the name of KATZ appears on this tombstone for D.S. Kramer who was born in Galicia in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. I am wondering if this could be the maiden name of Dovid Samuel Kramer’s mother?
A translation of the rest of the text would also be appreciated, if it can shed any light on genealogical information.
D.S. Kramer was my grandmother Yetta Kramer Fromstein's brother.
Thank you.

3/16/2014 4:47 PM The acronym K' TZ' after the name is not Katz but stands for Kohen Tzedek indicting a descendent of the priestly tribe of Cohen, one of the twelve tribes of Israel. Confirmed by the symbolic hands giving the priestly blessing
3/18/2014 3:41 AM David Shlomo son of r. Israel Kremer K''Tz
Born...
Died...

(Note that "r." does not nessessary means "rabbi" but can be used to mean "honoured man")

And yes, the previous comment is correct - the K''Tz abbreviation means that Kremer was a cohen - that is, was considered a descendant of the Temple priest ant thus the descendant of Aharon, Moses's brother.
( see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kohen )
3/18/2014 3:47 AM And one correction to the first comment.
Cohen is not "one of the twelve tribes of Israel" but the descendant of Aharon (as I said in my previous comment.
Aharon and his brother Moses belonged to the Levy tribe.
3/18/2014 7:16 AM Tough to read...

1st line: Dovid Shlomo son of Mr. Yisroel (his Hebrew name, the "Mr." is a title that can be used for any married man)
2nd line: Kremener Kohen Tzedek (I'm reading the surname the way it appears to be spelled on the stone; the last two words are abbreviated, literally mean righteous Kohen, but simply means Kohen)
3rd line: born 1 [I can't read the date, but it doesn't correlate to anything based on the Gregorian date] 5710 (Hebrew month, but it should be 5711 based on the Gregorian)
4th line: died [can't read the date, but based on the Gregorian date, it should be the fourth day of] Menachem Av (Hebrew month)
5th line: 5653 (Hebrew year)

The hands and their pose above the inscription also signify he was a Kohen.
