On  Response
9/9/2012 5:12 PM Here Lies
A good man . . . .
Jonah, son of Abraham Michal
Died on Wednesday, the 19th of Iyaar
In the year 5685.
May his soul be bound up for life eternal (5-letter acronym)
9/11/2012 6:34 AM For completeness, the first full line on the stone reads: Ish Tov Ayin, u’Ba’al Midot which means: a man of good eye and a virtuous deeds. Also, in the final line after the year of death, it says he had Mem’Gimmel (43) years of life which I would guess is based on the Jewish calendar (as opposed to the 42 years in the secular calendar as written).
