Need help interpreting brother Meier's last name on ship manifest for Chane Miller. Document is SS Rotterdam arriving NYC on Nov 9, 1912 manifest page 21 line 1. EIDB transcriber has town as Iembiow. Should be recorded as Zembrow in Lomza. Meier never immigrated himself. Tried Hat...,Zlat....
Thanks,
Ron Miller

3/25/2012 9:10 PM Since the name of the town begins with a Z, and the first letter of the brother's name seems to be the same letter, then the brother's name might be ZLAFARESKI
3/25/2012 10:07 PM it's definitely a T, I'd go with Zlatareski
3/26/2012 1:09 AM Arrival date in NY is 18 Nov 1912, not the 9th.

I would also say "Zlatareski"

The "h" in "hebrew" on the same line has a higher horizontal line, and Zlatareski is not an uncommon name compare the familyname and the Bulgarian/Servian placename Zlatarski.

For the placename Zambrow[!] see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zambr%C3%B3w
3/26/2012 2:10 AM I too read the name as ZLATARESKI. Searching on JRI for that name in Lomza Gubernia, I found several listings for Majer ZLOTORYJSKI (various spellings). One is a birth record -- 1862, a good age for a possible brother to Chane. Another is the 1887 death in Zembrow of Kejla Marjasza Z., daughter of Mejer.
