This card, signed Roza Perale Vollman, is addressed to uncle and aunt Spivak, and dates from the time Abram William Spiwak was visiting Capresti. A correct translation of the inscription would be appreciated.

Embossed in the lower left corner is the name of the photo studio: Foto Rembrandt / Rosenberg, Soroca. Does anyone know anything about this studio?

1/29/2011 11:10 PM Hello Patricia,

The card is dated September 16, 1929.
1/29/2011 11:27 PM Hello Patricia,

On second thought, perhaps the date is September 29, 1916. (9/29/1916).

Please refer to your other listing....Jo
2/5/2011 3:08 AM The text reads:
For my dear uncle, aunt, and cousins Spivak.
Roza Veirale Vollman
September 16th, 1929.
Capresti.

N.B. The date format should always be interpreted like this: the 4 digits representing the year are separated in two halves by a "fraction" where the numerator is the day of the month and the denominator the month of the year expressed in Roman numbers. It was very much in use at the period in time.

2/5/2011 3:12 AM Sorry, I also read "Peirale".
2/6/2011 7:43 PM For an example of the date format, search for VM 17692 in the archives, the samedate is also on the postal stamp.
