Meine liebe brave Lucile,
Du hast uns viel Freude bereitet mit Deinem sch�nen Brief, und alle welche diesen lesen, m�ssen sich wundern, dass Du in kurzer Zeit so vortrefflich gelernt hast. Ich h�tte selbst gew�nscht, dass wir jetzt einmal zu Euch k�men. Uns ist ....

you brought us a lot of joy with your beautiful letter,and everybody who reads it, will be surprised, how you were able to learn a lot in such a short time. I wished, we could visit you. ...

..... Deine lieben Zeilen haben mich ....(anger�hrt?) und erfreut wie ein Blumenstrauss im Fr�hjahr. Du weisst doch, dass man im Fr�hjahr die Blumen wenn sie erst aufgebl�ht am liebsten hat. Ich will Dir, mein geliebtes T�chterchen, einen Vorschlag machen, wenn Du gern deutsche Briefe schreiben willst, und dabei Deutsch lernen, so schreibe mir alle vierzehn Tage einen Brief, wie es Dir in der Schule geht, was Deine geliebten Eltern und Grosseltern und Geschwister machen. Line 2 word 2 seems to be "angemutet" = charmed
And I agree the word I couldn't decipher was indeed "vortrefflich"=excellently, perfectly.
(there's more in 2 heads than 1)
