Fulham and Kensington Synagogue

The Jewish Chronicle, 2 March 1923

Mr. K. Sams presided at the annual meeting of the synagogue. The balance-sheet, showing cash at the bank of £463, was adopted. It was decided immediately to purchase the freehold property at 259 Lille Road.
The following were elected: Messrs. J. Goodman, President; J. Handler, Vice-President; A. Berlinsky and C. Brenner, Wardens; I. C. Levy, Treasurer; Roinick, Levartopsky, and May, Trustees; Bloomberg and O. B. Roger, Auditors; and a Committee of ten.
At a subsequent meeting it was reported that the purchase of the ground had been completed. A number of gifts to the synagogue were promised. The Committee appeal to the inhabitants of Fulham and Kensington who are not members of the congregation to send their names and addresses to the Hon. President at 26 Lillie Road.

Letter to the Editor
The number of Jews in Fulham has increased during the last few years, but so far no adequate place for religious services and instruction, has been provided. A plot of ground for the erection of a synagogue and classrooms has been purchased, and building activities have been started. The Fulham and Kensington Ladies' Guild have undertaken to provide the interior decorations of the synagogue, and the sum of £120 has already been handed over to the Building Committee. Monetary assistance, as well as active workers, are very much needed, and ladies desirous of assisting the Committee should communicate with me.

Fulham and Kensington Congregation.
The Talmud Torah of the Congregation, which has been temporarily closed, will re-open on October 3rd, under the direction of the minister, the Rev. S. Bronstein.

Neville Laski KC was elected President of the Board of Deputies in 1933, while he was deputy of the Fulham and Kensington congregation (since 1930).

Fulham and Kensington Synagogue
At the Annual Meeting of the Congregation, a satisfactory Balance sheet was presented and adopted. The following were elected: Messrs P. Tann, Chairman; W. Ferst, Vice-Chairman; I. C. Levy, Treasurer; M. Gershowitz and H. Jacobson, Wardens; D. Glass, L. Diamond and S. Mayover, Hon. Auditors; and J. Lewis, Secretary.

Plans have been completed for the redecoration of the Fulham and Kensington Synagogue, 259 Lillie Road, London S.W.6, which was erected in 1926 - Services are held regularly on Sabbath eve and morning and on one weekday evening. The Hebrew classes have been restarted.

As a result of a buffet held recently at the Washington Hotel by the Fulham and Kensington Synagogue, £250 was raised for the synagogue rebuilding fund.
