In the name of the Green and Sea Point Hebrew Congregation, the term "Green" is derived from "Green Point" which is a suburb of Cape Town situated adjacent to the suburb of Sea Point.

.. The 70th Anniversary of the Sea Point Synagogue, in Marais Road, Sea Point, Cape Town was celebrated in June 2004. The Sea Point Congregation was founded in 1926 and on 18th April 1934 in the presence of a large gathering, General Johan Christiaan Smuts laid the corner-stone of Synagogue which is shown in this picture.

.. Changes in the structure took place over the past few years when security gates were installed due to crime in the area. The picture here shows the Offices of the Synagogue protected by the aforementioned security gates.
