Artifact Spotlight: Immigrant Identification Card of Lucie Blau

As an affiliate of the Museum of Jewish Heritage — A Living Memorial to the Holocaust, we are pleased to highlight a family history-related artifact in the Museum’s collection.

Lucie Blau left Vienna with her parents, Siegfried and Klara Blau, and came to New York via the Cunard White Star Aquitania. She arrived in New York on April 14, 1939. Lucie’s aunt and uncle, Etie and Max Mahl also immigrated to the United States, after living in Shanghai during The War. They arrived in San Francisco in 1948, and then quickly made their way to New York to be near family. Max died of emphysema shortly after arriving in NY and Etie died in 1968.
