Upton Park is in east London, north of the river Thames, in the London Borough of Newham, created in 1965, within the administrative area of Greater London.

Previously, for all addresses of the congregation (except for Queens Road), the local authority district was the County Borough of East Ham, a unitary authority (created in 1915) geographically (although not administratively) within the County of Essex, and prior thereto, the Municipal Borough of East Ham (1904 to 1915), geographically and administratively within the County of Essex.

(Queens Road was in the County Borough of West Ham, a unitary authority geographically (although not administratively) within the County of Essex.)

In 1965, the County Borough of East Ham and the County Borough of West Ham were together merged with some adjoining areas to form the London Borough Newham.
