Until 1985, Hampstead Garden Suburb was split between two local authorities (both within the former County of Middlesex). The eastern part (which included Linden Lea, where the synagogue was situated) was in the Municipal Borough of Finchley, incorporated as a borough in 1933. (The western part was in the Municipal Borough of Hendon.)

Since 1 April 1999 - Barnet (which would now hold any registers)
