Todmorden Todmorden is a town, with a population of about 15,000, in the Upper Calder Valley of Yorkshire, in the North of England. It is 17 miles north-east of Manchester, 8 miles south-east of Burnley and 9 miles west of Halifax. Until 1974, Todmorden was an urban district in the West Riding of Yorkshire. Since 1974 it has been part of the metropolitan borough of Calderdale in the metropolitan county of West Yorkshire. In 1986, Calderdale became a unitary authority when West Yorkshire lost its administrative status and became purely a ceremonial county.. Jewish Community There is no evidence of an organised Jewish community in Todmorden or elsewhere in the area that is today Calderdale, other than in Halifax (see separately), until well into the twenty-first century when the Caldervale Jewish Community Centre was established but which later became defunct. In 2025, a new group held its first meeting, as detailed below.
