These photographs were taken in May 2013. There are a total of 11 foundation stones visible in the walls of the former synagogue building, one on each side of the front entrance and three panels of three each on the southern wall facing the main road. The inscriptions in some instances are clearly legible while others have been completely eroded by the weather . Following its closure in 1994, the synagogue was initially converted into the South Tyneside Arts Studio, but subsequently became offices.
