Studies of Jewish given name transformations in Argentina, Israel, and the Soviet Union (into Spanish, Hebrew and Russian, respectively) show that these same patterns are true elsewhere as well. In each case, a set of given names popular among Jews can be identified and their transformations from Yiddish to the language of the new country seem to follow the same set of principles as those identified for the United States.
