JewishGen education

Fundamentals III: Work Smart

JewishGen Education offers a Three-Step Plan to Sharpen Your Genealogical Skills.

Each week, we will work through the major databases (FamilySearch, Ancestry, Jewishgen, steve-morse, rtr, and others)to enhance and advance your research skills. Each week includes:

Start with a new or ongoing project and learn how to:

  1. ORGANIZE - SMART: Pre-Planning for success (increase your knowledge base; learn to automate and notate; verify and validate)
  2. FOCUS and FILTER: Using specific filters to funnel your search on the major databases (ancestry, familysearch, stevemorse, myheritage, JewishGen)
  3. Reach out and use FAN club sourcing and Crowdsourcing

Format: We are proud of our unique personal mentoring courses which feature a private online FORUM where you'll be encouraged to post one ancestral branch (one surname), set goals for your research, and work one-on-one with the instructor to research your branch using JewishGen. Our classes are open 24/7, have no scheduled times as our students are international, enabling everyone to read/view/post at leisure. The teacher will invite students to Sunday Zoom meetings to discuss specific databases to get the most from them.

Requirements:Students should feel comfortable with computers and have 8-10 hours per week to read the lessons, research online and interact with the instructor.

Tuition for this three-week course is $150. If you qualify for a VAS voucher-discount or if you have taken a class in this Fundamentals Series. For the $18 discount email: education@jewishgen.org.
