Research in Galicia II
Galicia I covered vital records in the archives and online. This course intends to cover all other types of records available in Galicia.

This Home Study course is open to those who completed Galicia I. If you have not taken the pre-requisite, Galicia I, but have thoroughly researched your ancestral town's vital records using RTR, JRI-Poland, Gesher Galicia and JewishGen, you may apply by emailing the instructor by clicking here.

We will continue to focus on the methodology for foreign research, including: (1) the Family Document (2) the Research Table (3) Your ToDo list, (4) others researching your surname or shtetl, and (5) connecting with fellow researchers and professionals.

Galicia I covers researching history, town information and vital records on 4 key websites: JewishGen, Jewish Records Indexing - Poland, GesherGalicia and RTR Foundation.

Galicia II covers the historical background of Galicia, naming conventions, how to use the the Polish Archives-what is online and what is not, census, military, directories, Holocaust research, languages, hiring a researcher and more!

Format: This is a Home Study Course which features self-paced lessons in pdf format currently sent to you via email in one electronic transfer.

Course Material is part II of the Galician Research Manual.


Research tips for success: Please select a branch for which you have the immigrants name, key town and approximate year of birth. When searching maintaining Research Logs will help keep the data available as you progress.
