The Bishopwearmouth Cemetery has three Jewish sections. This submission includes only the two later sections, namely the section in the centre-west (in use from 1899 to 1926) and the section in the northwest (in use from 1926). The earliest section, in the northeast (in use from 1856 to 1899), is not included in this submission.
The records cover burials from 1899 through 1999, with a few later additions.
The burial records included in the database represents a consolidation by David Shulman, Webmaster of JCR-UK, of data previously included in JOWBR (comprising the records of two funeral directors, on-line since 8 July 2003) and data previously in the All-UK Database of JCR-UK (also in part taken from the same funeral directors). Most of the data had been provided by Harold Davis.
NOTE: It should be noted that, since many of the burial records are based upon the records of funeral directors, the dates shown for the date of death could in many instances actually be the date of burial. |
