Bernsdorf Concentration Camp
(Sub-Camp of Gross Rosen)

Background

Bernsdorf (current location name Bernartice (Trutnov District)) was one of more than one hundred sub-camps of Gross Rosen.  This textile forced labor camp was established in 1944 and the workers were all young Jewish women.  The vast majority of the laborers came from Poland and Hungary.

Conditions in the camp were relatively good and most appear to have survived, though this information is not contained in the list.  Postwar records exist for many of these women who entered displaced persons camps in Germany.  Individual inquiries regarding postwar fate may be sent to plande@ushmm.org.
