Background

Death notices from the Neue Freie Presse, a newspaper in Vienna, Austria, 1864-1939. The Neue Freie Presse was a newspaper where Jews in Vienna commonly placed notices of deaths. See Neue Freie Presse. Theodor Herzl was a correspondent for the paper.

Most of the death notices also include the names of family members. The newspapers have been scanned and are available from the website of the Austrian National Library: ANNO-Neue Freie Presse.
