Information Question
Category: Photo Identification
Family Surname: Myers or Mischelevich
Country: USA
Town: Rochester, New York
Date of Image: about 1940
This is Isaac. He was born in Ariogala, Kaunas, Lithuania in about 1880. Arrived in Britain with his parents and a younger brother Reuben (my grandfather) His father was Meer Shmuel MISCHELEVICH and his mother Sarah LAMBE. On the 1891 Census the family are in Leeds, England and Meer is Myer MUSSELOVICH. Birth records show names to have been changed to MUSERLOVITZ, LEVITZ,LEVITT and the 1911 census shows MYERS.
The 1911 census states that there were 12 children, 9 living and 3 having died. The only death I have found is Esther who died in 1900 age 17. The census's show the children as Isaac, Reuben, Esther, Matilda, Jacob, Louis, Sally, Rachel, Hyman/Himon and James. On the back of this picture my mother wrote, 'Isaac my fathers brother, Rochester, New York.' If anyone has any knowledge of this lovely, kind looking man, who looks like my brother, or regarding any of this family, I would love to hear from you. THANK YOU FOR READING!
