Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

2/10/2013 4:19 PM Here is the manifest of Moses Padzowski (the brother of Sheine and Chaje Padzowski, whose manifest I just posted). It lists his residence as Chrosen? He was born in Grinkiskis, Lithuania. Could this be the same place?

Many thanks for your help in advance.

25987 Interpretation

2/6/2013 7:47 PM On the back of a photo of her daughter, Peirale Vollman, Roza Licht Vollman has inscribed a message to her aunt and uncle Spiwak in Russian the day before they were to leave Capresti to return to the US. I've had that part translated.

But I don't know what the numbers written sideways above the word "Soroca" mean. Can anyone interpret them for me?

75/7.929

Is this an address?

2/6/2013 7:46 PM This picture and tribute (I assume) was in a Radomer Friendly Society 16th Annual Anniversary Souvenir Book. Toby Green, Joe's wife, was Treasurer of the organization at that time. I have no idea what this says. This could be an advertisement or could have information of genealogical value. Loose trabslation with an emphasis on names, dates, and places would be great!
