Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

27889 Translation - Russian

6/26/2013 4:27 PM We think this is a document giving my husband's great grandfather permission to leave Russia. I am hoping someone will be able to translate the document for the family. We are having a reunion this weekend and I received this document today. I think it will be a wonderful surprise for all if we are able to get the translation for the reunion.
Thanks, Ruth Frank

27856 Do you recognize?

6/26/2013 4:23 PM My grandmother (Natalia Furst, later married name was Hollo) is in this photo, second from left. She belonged to the sports club named Hakoah, and I believe this group sponsored hikes into the countryside around Vienna in the 1920s (this photo, however, seems to be in an urban area).

I wonder if anyone knows anything about this organization, its membership, and (very long chance . . . I realize) maybe recognize the people in the photo?
