Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

28825 Translation - Russian

8/28/2013 4:11 PM I would be very grateful for a full translation of the Russian inscription on the back of this family photograph. I believe it was sent by a member of the Gitgarts family to his relatives Moshe, Nuchim, and Leizer Gitgarts.

I am also curious about whether the overcoat is a Russian military uniform.

Thanks in advance for your help – I have been so impressed with the expertise and generosity of translators here.

8/28/2013 4:10 PM From another document (WWII draft registration) I know that the town mentioned here is Golshon (Yid. Olshon, Golshani). What I don't know is the word between "Golshon" and "Russia." View the post, there are no responses
28820 Translation - Russian

8/28/2013 4:10 PM I believe that Akta 13 is the record of my pgggp's marriage. This image is, I suspect, just boilerplate but I didn't want to take the chance of missing something. I've uploaded another image with the 2nd page of the document.

Thank you,

Debbi

Please provide any names, dates, places, occupations that appear in the document. If witness names are included, please provide them.
