25. It came to pass in the Town of Belchatow on the twenty-fifth day* in the year of one thousand eight hundred and forty-three at the hour of ten in the morning. Appeared personally orthodox Jew Herszlik Machabonski, a szkolnik, seventy-one years of age, and Zalma Gorzelanski, a day labourer, fifty-four years of age, both of them residing in the Town of Belchatow, and jointly declared before us that orthodox Jew Jude Maier Zelwer, a baker, fifty years of age, residing in the Town of Belchatow, had deceased on the twenty-third day of December of the current year at the hour of nine in the morning leaving behind his widowed wife Dobryszka. I, the undersigned, ascertained the demise of orthodox Jew Jude Maier Zelwer with my own eyes. The actual act was read aloud to the witnesses who presented themselves and subsequently signed.

{The following} denotes Herszlik Machabonski (signed)

Detto Zalma Gorzelanski (signed)

Wysocki (signed), The Responsible for the Maintenance of Civil Registration Records (signed)

NOTES: *Apparently no direct indication as to what the month of registration was looks to have been provided in the introductory section of the record but given the fact that the actual demise occurred on the 23rd of December, of which we are advised by a civil registrar a few lines later, we can make an assumption that it was in December that the death was reported.
