My uncle's family documented that he should remain in Hungary as his ancestors were there for several generations. These four scans are the vital records obtained in 1941.

Can you translate the 4 pages? This is page 3.

6/14/2014 12:36 AM Hello Moishe,

Here is the information on this Jewish marriage registry entry:

Copied from the Marriage registry of the Nagykaroly Old Orthodox Jewish Congregation on August 11, 1941. Page 10, Item # 16. Cost - 1 Pengo.

Groom: Hercz Bernat (originally from Gebe ?????)
Parents: Hercz Emanuel and Grunzweig Eszti
Age: 24 years, single.

Bride: Weisz Amalia (house number 228 ???)
Parents: Weisz Herrman and ???? Czili (surname illegible)
Age: 18 years, never married.

Date: October 13, 1885

Witnesses: Herman Furst, Hercz Emanuel

Marriage Performed by the Head Rabbi.

Please note that the marriage occurred in 1885, and it seems that a copy was authenticated by Friedman Bernath who was either a rabbi or serving as the registrar.

There is a lot of information here, so I hope that it is helpful to you....Jo

EXTRACT from the _marriage_ register of the Orth. Jew. (old) congregation of Nagykároly.
Volume number II, page number 10.
Item 16.
Groom: Hercz Bernát
Groom's parents: Hercz Emánuel, Grünzweig Eszti
Groom's place of origin, religion, age, marital status: Gebe, Jewish, 24, single
Bride: Weisz Amalia
Bride's parents: Weisz Herrman, ?enz? Czili
Bride's address, religion, age, status: 228, Jewish, 18, single
Date of marriage: Oct. 13, 1885
Witnesses: Herrman Fürst, Hercz Emánuel
Officiant: head rabbi
In witness of this extract:
Dated in Nagykároly, August 11, 1941; [signed] Friedmann Bernát rabbi, as registrar
[Round rubber stamp:] Orth. Jew. Old Cong. Rabbinate [unreadable word] Regist. office.

Note that Zöldág = Grünzweig = "green branch": the groom's mother's name is written in German here, but in a direct Hungarian translation on the birth record. (Eszti is a diminutive of Eszter=Esther.)

Unfortunately, the bride's mother's surname is just too sloppily written to make out. Her given name would modernly be spelled Cili, which is a diminutive of Cecilia.
