The writer, Dora (Bauer?), replies to a card from the addressee, Matylda Schiff Sicherman, and asks in a postscript: “When are you coming?” Dora writes to Matylda c/o her sister-in-law, Salina Sicherman, in Szatmár (though the town is not given on the address); the picture, published by the Ministry of War (series 28/4), shows a tailor at work behind the Austro-Hungarian army front lines (“Der Schneider hinter der öst.-ung. Front”).

Dear Matilde,
I have received your card and I thank you very much for it. I apologize for answering so only today, you know how everybody is [verb I can't understand] all day. Nevertheless, there is nothing to eat here. Then I inform you that I feel very [lonely], all my good friends are out of town, Toni Bauer is in Truskawiec, Ruscha and the Schönfelts are in Truskawiec, too.
I greet you and your little children,
Dora Bauer.

vir = für
There are two towns named Truskawiec, one near Lodz and one near Lwow (L'viv).
