The photo was labeled "Simon's parents and some of their children in Russia." My grandfather Salomon Szczuciner emigrated to the US in 1903 and changed his name to Simon Cohen. Depending upon the political situation, he claimed to be from Poland or Russia. Any clues to the identity of the individuals would be appreciated. I am guessing that perhaps the young man seated may be Simon who would have been about 17 years old at the time.

3/18/2012 4:50 PM Hi, while I can't help you with the image, your family name is definitely not common. I checked a Memorial site that lists victims of Stalin's purges and found one match. Please contact me if this information is new for you.

3/25/2012 7:47 PM gorgeous photo! wish i could help with it but i'm clueless. hwoever, depending on how this name is pronounced - are you aware there was a town called Stuchin?
and i'm not sure what you meant by the political situation vis a vis Poland Russia but that part of teh world didhave shifting borders so the hometown likely changed hands within his childhood.
3/31/2012 6:37 AM Please, contact me! I don't recognize the people on the photo, but I have Szczuciner from Przasnysz in my extended family tree.
2/28/2013 2:12 PM Hello,

We have a picture of a woman looks exactly like the grandmother on your picture. I believe she is either the same person, or a sister of the grandmother on the picture. Please, contact me.

Best Regards,
Svetlana Tokareva
