4/13/2011 11:32 PM It seems he died on a Saturday (abbreviated "Shin Kuf" for Shabbat Kodesh) and then the visible date, on the next line, is 24 in the month Shvat, I can't make out the year.
4/15/2011 2:46 AM The year is Taf Resh, something, something, Pey Hey. 5685. Could it be 1925, but I know you're looking for 75 years earlier. Should be something like Taf Resh Yod. Maybe the smudge is a yod, and the Pey Hey means something else. If the last letter isn't part of a date, maybe it's a Kuf, and not a Hey, and maybe Pey Kuf is an abbreviation for some longer words...
4/15/2011 5:30 AM The month is not Shvat, it's Tevet.
4/15/2011 12:33 PM You're right, the month is Tevet. Makes more sense too.

4/15/2011 4:58 PM I think those last 3 letters are lamed-peh-kuf which is the acronym for "le'prat katan" which means that the preceding date does not include the thousands digit (i.e. 5xxx is assumed).
4/18/2011 6:54 AM The date of death is - 26 Tevet 5606 -
Saturday 24 January 1846
