I would very much appreciate an English translation of the Hebrew text. I hope it's not too difficult to make out. Thank you.

the man YISRAEL son of Reb Ze'ev

He passed away 13 Iyar

of the year 5697

May his soul be bound up in the bond of life.

==============================================
'Reb' is an honorific; it does not mean rabbi.

Yisrael is Hebrew for Israel.

Ze'ev is Hebrew for wolf. His father MAY have had a secular name related to wolf, such as Wolfgang. However, this is not necessarily the case.

The 13th of Iyar, 5697, began at sunset on April 23rd, 1937, and ended at sunset on the 24th.
