Are you interested in volunteering with JewishGen? Do you believe it is important to preserve not only the names of your own family members, but the names of others who perished as well?
If yes, you would be a welcome member of our volunteer team — provided you can also meet the following:
- You are comfortable using Excel, or can find your way around comparable spreadsheet software.
- You are able to commit a minimum of six hours per week to the project.
The Holocaust Database Project is supported by a team of over 100 active volunteers, and we are always looking for new contributors in the following roles:
Group Leader
Coordinates a list-indexing project, recruits and manages transcribers and validators, and reports monthly progress to the Technical Coordinator.
Transcriber
Transcribes assigned sections of a record list into a project template, following established transcription conventions.
Validator
Reviews and verifies the accuracy of transcribed sections before they are submitted for upload to the database.
If we do not have immediate opportunities for you, your name will be added to our list of volunteers for upcoming projects.
The Division is in the middle of multiple indexing projects, with new records added to JewishGen as transcription and verification are completed.
