Yehuda Steinberg

The writer Yehuda Steinberg lived in Yedinitz at the end of the 19th century. According to one version of the story, he arrived in town as a family teacher in the home of one of the wealthy members of the community, and according to another version, he opened his own private school similar to other schools or cheders existing in town in those days.

The period between the outbreak of the Revolution and the disturbances at the end of 1917, the great writer and allegorist Eliezer Steinberg was called on to serve as a teacher at the Talmud Torah located at the Zionist synagogue in Yedinitz, Sha'arei Zion.

More than ten years have passed since Y. L. Grozman, the famous writer and journalist, editor and publisher of the literary journal Der Spiegel [The Mirror], died in Argentina. Something is hard to believe and does not make sense – i.e. that Leibele Grozman, the always-ebullient sparkling cloud, is no longer among us.
