Arrivals from Yedinitz in Argentina – An activist of the Left Poalei Zion in Israel

A short list included in the book of Z. Abramovitz (one of the leaders of the Left Poalei Zion) in Poems of the Movement (published by Y. L. Peretz and the Workers Library, 1965) by a native of Yedinitz who emigrated to Israel from Argentina, and who was active in Israel in various Left Poalei Zion groups.

The Halutz Movement and the First Pioneers from Yedinitz

Young unmarried men from Yedinitz left town and headed to Palestine even before the creation of a branch of Hehalutz in Yedinitz. These were: Zvi Rosenthal, Shmuel Kafri (Dorf), Yosef Kliger, Benny Helfgot (Yanekele the Scribe's) and others.

It is not surprising, however, that when the movement was started at the beginning of World War I, its sounds reached Yedinitz and attracted part of the youth, planting the first seeds of the Hehalutz movement in town, and which eventually became one of the largest centers of the branches of the movement in Bessarabia.
