Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

5852 Translation - German

10/1/2006 This is a photo from a book that appears to have been published in 1830. I'm not even sure what it is - perhaps a bible. I can only make out the word "Baum" above 1838. It is from a book passed down in the Baum family, so that makes sense. I can't tell if it is a vital record or just a long version of saying "this is my book". Any insights are very welcome! 5853 Translation - Hebrew

10/1/2006 This is the frontispiece of a book that I cannot identify. It was passed down in the Baum family. I would be interested in both what the book is and what the handwritten information is. I can tell the German says something to the effect of "This book belongs to Moses Baum in ???" - and then the rest appears to be hebrew. Any help is VERY appreciated.
