Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

12213 Translation - Yiddish

8/13/2008 This is, I believe, page one of a two page letter. The second page also is posted. I would be grateful for an exact translation of the letter as it is one of the only surviving letters left by Regina Rosenberg. I would greatly appreciate the assistance of anyone able to help with the translation.

8/13/2008 The following is a place and date of birth from a Family Register in Weissach, Germany. It is for a woman who married in Weissach, but whose father is from nearby Heimerdingen. I can see a reference to Weissach, but am not sure what what the rest of it says. There is no birth record for her in Weissach for the date shown. View the post with its 1 response

12183 Translation - German

8/10/2008 The context of this paragaph is a disability/injury claim resulting from forced labor it is supposed to involve: hard labor at a branch Lvov RR Station; work under aryan papers for the NSKK in some ("illegal") form and a cover by DAW after an escape (Janowska) in 1943. Can anyone put this legal language into context? Tried on the various sites but I didn't get a coherent translation. Thnx. View the post with its 3 responses
