19640 Translation - German

7/24/2011 8:18 PM I believe this to be the death record for Abraham Danne, the father of Pauline Danne, who was the wife in the marriage record I have just submitted (DSC_7533-small.jpg). I would appreciate some help in reading the old German script, particularly the date and the age at death. Thank you.

19642 Translation - Yiddish

7/24/2011 8:18 PM Please translate the text on the back of this photo. And does anyone recognize the location? If it's in the U.S., it's probably in the Bronx-- and if it's not, it may be in Israel. Thank you! View the post with its 4 responses
19643 Translation - Yiddish

7/24/2011 8:18 PM I have pasted two former submissions together (top, 15570; bottom, VM 14526) after learning that both translations mentioned a name like Chaike/Khaiyke. I am hoping that a side-by-side comparison might help us to glean more information about her.

There are only a few holes in the family tree, but Chaike doesn't seem to fit them. Bluma, the woman on the far right, had a sister Surah WOLF whom I've been unable to track down, but the woman in the glasses is a generation younger than Bluma. I've been looking for a Chana WEISSER/VAIZER/WEINSTEIN who would be about the right age, but she would be first cousin (not aunt) to Malka, who signed the back of the photo, and is on the other side of my family tree anyway.

Is Chaike associated with any other names/nicknames? Does it have any literal meaning in Yiddish? What would be a common Anglicization of that name? Is there anything in one photo that helps inform the other?

As always, thanks for your help.

19637 Translation - German

7/24/2011 8:17 PM This seems to be the marriage document of my husband's great-grandfather's brother (or perhaps cousin), Carl Isaac Cohn, who married Pauline Dana (or Danne). Although I read some German, I can't read the old German script and would appreciate help in interpreting what is written here. I am particularly interested in the date, the occupation, and any personal information in this document. This is the right-hand page of the record. I'll also upload a scan of the left-hand page that includes the names of the parents of the couple. Thank you.

19638 Translation - German

7/24/2011 8:17 PM This is the left-hand page of the marriage document for Carl Isaac Cohn and Pauline Danne. The right-hand page is DSC_7533-small.jpg, which I have already uploaded to this site. This document gives the names of their parents, but I can't read most of it in the old German script. I would appreciate some help in interpreting the handwriting, especially of the names of the mothers. Thank you.

19639 Translation - German

7/24/2011 8:17 PM This is part of the birth record for a cousin of my husband's grandfather. This is the right-hand page of the document. The only information on the left-hand page is that the baby was a male and the given name was Theodor. I would appreciate some help in interpreting the old German script. In particular, I am interested in the date and any personal information about this family. Thank you.

19634 Translation - Russian

7/24/2011 8:16 PM This baby girl, Ester daughter of the soldier Shul Mendel, must have been the older sister of Abraham, whose birth record I posted here as image 19586.

Once again, I would be grateful if somebody could read the town from which Shmul Mendel originated.

Thank you, Justin Levy

19629 Interpretation

7/24/2011 8:15 PM I have had this translated, and understand that it is a notification that this woman (who we believe was my grandmother's aunt) owned property but was otherwise poor. Why would someone have a document like this? and why would my grandmother (who was in New York by this time) have had a copy of it? Thank you for any help with this. View the post with its 1 response
19630 Translation - Hebrew

7/24/2011 8:15 PM This is supposed to be an account of the death of Elka Abowicz. I am interested in knowing all of the filled in info on this form. I believe she and her family died in one of the Camps during WWII.

So this would have been filled out by a friend or surviving relative.

Thank you in advance.
