Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

11/19/2006 Can anyone read the Russian text in a machzor that belonged to my husband's grandfather. I can read that it was printed in 1866 by typographer R. M. Rommah. But where?
And is there any other information in the rest of the text?
Thank you in advance for any and all help.

11/15/2006 This is part of the birth record of Moses Kalman Weingast who was born in Olchowiec, Galicia in 1889. His parents were Simszon Weingast and Sosie Kohan. I need a translation from the German of the last column on this page describing his father. I believe the previous column indicates the birth was "illegitimate"
