Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

15666 Tombstone

6/16/2010 4:09 PM It's not easy to read but I would like a translation of this tombstone. Thanks

Note: if , for all these tombstones, you can decipher only the given names and the name of the father, it will help me as I have the list of all the people buried in this cemetery.

15559 Translation - Yiddish

6/16/2010 4:08 PM This is a letter from my late great-great-aunt Esther Tepper and her brother Jakób to their aunt Sadie Goldsmith in New York City, following the Holocaust. I believe they were writing to locate relatives, ask for financial and other help, and to share their experiences during the war. I would very much like to learn the content of the letter, particularly any family names and other unique details.

I have uploaded the continuation (reverse) of this letter separately.
