Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

17617 Translation - German

5/18/2011 4:05 PM This is the military record of Siegbert Friedmann,my great-grandfather, husband of Ida Kissinger, son of Markus and Babette Hollerbaum Friedmann.
Siegbert was killed in the Holocaust but apparently fought for Germany in WWI. I am very interested to know about the battles he was in and anything about his military record that can be determined from this record. His personal details listed here are already translated.

5/18/2011 4:04 PM The document clesrly refers to a Salomon Aufrichtig. I believe it may refer to my great-great-grandfather Salomon Z Aufrichtig who was born in Boskovice in 1812. I would be grateful if any member has the expertise to translate this document, whether as a whole or in part.

Many thanks

5/15/2011 9:21 PM Please can someone transliterate the name of Jakob KORNFELD's mother (marked by red oval).
Also Jakob KORNFELD is listed with two wives. I read the second wife (II) as Suzana Grünberger. Is the first wife Elisabeth Grünberger or Humberger or what ?
Thank you

5/15/2011 9:21 PM Please can someone transliterate the exact words within the red ovals.
I think the name of the parents reads:
"Salomon Kornfeld [unable to read word] Salomon Mischl
Dorothea Asher"
His wife's name is Sara ROSENBAUM, but cannot read all of the other words.
Thank you

19036 Translation - German

5/15/2011 9:21 PM Please can someone transliterate the exact words within the red box.

It is from a birth register entry for Moritz Kornfeld, son of Bernard Kornfeld
You can compare it with a similar entry for a sister of Moritz that I am also submitting to ViewMate

Thank you
