This is a birth record for Leizer Gitgarts, son of Borukh (from the town of Chechelnyk, Olgopol Uezd) and Chaika.

I would like to know if Borukh was dead at the time his son was born. Is there any mention of that in the record? Does it use "was" instead of "is" to describe him?

Thanks in advance for your help.
