Most of this correspondence is between my great uncles, Josel Fishelov in Kachinovichi, Pinsk and his youngest brother, Ben Fisher and their mother Ida (Chaja Ruchel nee Sztejnberg) Fishelov/Fisher in the U.S. After Josel suddenly stopped writing and was presumed dead (his name did not appear in the 1941 German census of Pinsk), Ben made attempts to get information from the World Jewish Congress and a relative in Israel to find out what happened to him and his family. These beautiful postcards may hold some secrets of their last years of freedom before perishing in the Holocaust.
