I have re-scanned the top part of the photo studio details, as suggested.
Thanks to all who have commented on this photo.
It seems that it WAS taken in Baku.
Does the head of Emperor Nicholas 11 mean that Melikyan had worked for the Imperial family, or what?
Where does it show that a prize was won at the Antwerp International Exhibition? If the Imperial medal is a gold medal from that Exhibition, was Belgium not a separate country then - or am I missing something important here?
The Lion and Unicorn coat of arms looks like part of the English one, while Belgium and Antwerp usually have two lions.....
