Geographic search: The geographic search, as the whole site, is based on the 1910 political structure of the Ukraine in the Russian Empire.
If "All provinces" selected, the search will look for all geographical areas.
If "General Ukraine" is selected, the search will only search will restrain the results to specific "general Ukraine" document collections.
If a Province is selected, the district dropdown will be filled with the corresponding districts.
If "All districts" selected, the search will look for all districts in the selected province.
If "No districts" selected, the search will look only for "province specific" document collections.
If a district is selected, the town dropdown will be filled with the corresponding towns.
If "All towns" selected, the search will look for all towns in the selected district.
If "No town"s selected, the search will look only for "district specific" document collections.
If a town is selected, the search will be limited to the town "specific" document collections.
Document Type: Can limit the search results to a specific document type.
Name: The Name field allows to search for specific names (Surname, Given Name and Father's name) or part of them. Type of search DM-Soundex is only valid for keywords of 5 or more characters.
Name is optional. If left blank, the search will be limited by the other criterias of the search.
Sortable columns: By clicking on a column header you can sort the table by that column
Geographic Area: By clicking on the name of the resulting geographic area (province, district, town) you'll be redirected to the corresponding province/district/area page.
See collection details (collection name): By clicking this option you'll be redirected to the collection page where more information on the collection will be displayed
See record details (nagnifying glass): By clicking this option you'll be redirected to the record page where more information on the person will be displayed
Open collection (open book icon): This icon only appears if the collection is viewable on internet (can be outside JewishGen). By clicking it, the collection address (can be a website or a document) will be opened in a new window
