1848-1920." The collection consists of microfilm copies of
incorporation papers for Jewish or Jewish-related organizations
incorporated in New York City between 1848 and 1920. The types of
organizations included are fraternal societies, political clubs,
professional associations, synagogues, landsmanshaften, benevolent
organizations, and social clubs. The entire collection has been indexed
by name of the organization and, in some cases, by the European town
from which the incorporators came, or by general type of organizations.
The first table that follows was created from the transcription of Raymond Cannata by Deborah Glassman for ease of access to this information on this webpage and for uploading to JewishGen indices. There are eight organizations listed below and six were transcribed, (two were not able to be found at the time the records were transcribed in 2004.) These six different documents were filed at different times and using different formats. In some, each person is given a first name, last name, title, and address of record; in others no first name is given or no title, most don’t have addresses. The second table is the same information alphabetized across all of the organizations thus occasionally illuminating the overlap between groups, first name changes, and other useful details.
