Novyy Zhivotov and Staryy Zhivotov: The town of Zhivotov was located on the eastern bank of the river. Later a new town developed on the western margin. The eastern one was then called Staryy (old) Zhivotov and the western one Novo (new) Zhivotov. Finally Novo Zhivotov absorbed the old town that stopped exiting as an independent entity.
According to JoAnne Vanett most of the Jewish population lived on Novyy Zhivotov.
