- Where The Boys Are: With brides elsewhere,
if marriage patterns in Suwalki are typical. Jewish records for Suwalki
reveal a high rate of inter-town marriages (40%), in which the out-of-town
partner was usually the groom. Given here are: surname, birth place, and
residence of brides and grooms for the 874 marriages from 1826 - 1854;
alphabetized by surname. Appendix gives guidance on reading data about
birthplace and residence in Polish records. Additional research is offered at
minimal charge.
- Jews in the Nordic Countries: Drawing on
published and unpublished foreign language sources, an overview
of the earliest East European Jewish
migration to these countries, in which Suwalk-Lomza families were

- Russian Military Conscription Lists For Suwalki
Gubernia [Part I]. Under this Landsmen Foreign Project
with the Vilnius Archives, the Head Archivist presents an
overview of Jewish material in fonds of the seven Suwalki
Gubernia District Administrations. In this issue are military
conscription data for 400 families or individuals (1897-1915)
from Sejny district [Sejny, Berzniki,
Kopciowo, Krasnopol, Kudrany,
Lejpuny, Pokrowsk, Sereje,
Wiejsieje]; and Suwalki district [Filipow,
Jeleniewo, Przerosl, and Sejwy], and nearby villages. Much genealogical
information is given about these conscripts and members of their families,
including information on draft evaders. Further material in process of
publication from those fonds are also discussed, including extensive data on
families evacuated from many Suwalki gubernia towns by the Czarist government
in 1915.
