Membership in the Suwalk-Lomza Interest Group is defined as the purchase of at least any one, whole volume of Landsmen, current or past (i.e., any one of Vols. 1-18; or as of year 2009, the in-process Volume 19). Cost per volume is $25 in the U.S.; in Canada $28 USD [Air]; for all other countries $38 USD [Air]. New members receive a free Family Finder ad, and gubernia maps. The Suwalk-Lomza Interest Group also has a separate publishing capability for original monographs (called "Landsmen Press"), and offers discounts to its members of about 20% on each.
Back issues of Landsmen may be ordered by volume. Single issues are not sold individually; however, we invite members (as defined above) to order a "customized" volume(s) of their own choosing, factoring any double issue as the equivalent of any two single issues. Thus, a "customized volume" may consist of any one of the following combinations: either any 4 single issues; or any 2 double issues; or any 2 single issues and 1 double issue. Cost per "customized volume" is the same as the cost quoted above for any one whole, intact volume.
The entire set of issues in Volumes 1-18 may be purchased at a discount (if ordered together) for $265 in the USA. This is an 18 pound box of all 45 books. This discount price for all 18 volumes as a set results in about 8 free volumes.
Patron Membership , per year, is another option ($45, in the U.S.A.; Canada $48, USD; and $58 USD all other countries). The extra funds thus generated support our Foreign Research Project. Over 25% of our members choose this option each year.
All checks from members outside of the U.S.A. must be in USD and drawn on an American bank.
Payments may be sent with orders in the form of a personal check or money order, payable in U.S. dollars [drawn on a U.S.A bank] to: Suwalk-Lomza Interest Group. [Mail to: Box 228, 3701 Connecticut Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20008]. Along with your order, be sure to describe briefly your surnames and towns of interest [instructions for submitting a full Family Finder ad for publication will be included with your first order.] We hope to have an index of surnames by town from Landsmen in the future. In the meanwhile, although it may not be possible to answer queries about whether your ancestors are found in any of the issues to date, we try to guide prospective new members regarding the issues most likely to be of the greatest relevance to their interests.
Our paid membership varies from year to year in the 400-450 range. Although the great majority of our members are Americans, they live in 14 different countries. "Landsmen" is also subscribed to by many libraries around the world. With this international dimension, our members frequently discover branches of their family all over the world. The more the merrier, so we hope you join us.
