LitvakSIG - Publishing Journal Articles

We are interested in publishing articles,
poems and short stories which:
- Describe research methods, and new applications of computer and
Internet technology to Litvak genealogy.
- Present new types of genealogical documents and newly discovered
archival sources.
- Provide models for displaying results of genealogical research;
new ideas for shtetl group/SIG websites would be interesting.
- Review new Internet websites, research resources, articles, books,
etc.
- Tell personal family history stories, especially when illustrating
the use of new Litvak, JewishGen, and similar databases, and which provide examples of new
and different kinds of documentation.
- We welcome original articles and also will re-publish articles
which have appeared previously in other places such as JGS newsletters, on Litvak Shtetl
research and SIG pages (with written authorization of the author and
the editor of the previous publication and anyone holding copyright on any material which
is included).
- We welcome translations of material originally published in another
language (again with the same proviso as mentioned above).
- Please consider the unique opportunities that Internet publication
allows, such as presentation of color photographs and scanned documents, links to other
websites, etc. However keep in mind that many readers will not have the latest technology,
so audio and video material should be kept to a minimum or avoided.
- Please carefully and completely cite all sources. Of particular
interest are those citations which are accessible (and potentially hyperlinked) on the
Internet. Assume that readers will want to find those sources. The citation should provide
as much information as possible on where the sources are and how to get to them.
- Articles will remain online for a period of time and then be
archived (but still accessible). Information of lasting importance will be summarized and
included in FAQ's.
- All published articles will be copyrighted by the LitvakSIG and
the author, and will be available for non-commercial republication with permission and
attribution.
Please e-mail contributions in ASCII (plain text) format to the
Online Journal Editor Judith Caplan.
