2. Membership Report-
Gene Alpert
A membership reminder was posted in the December
Digest and individual emails sent on January 1. I will send out
another reminder at the end of the month.
Eden noted that dues payments have been coming in steadily since December.
David
added that when members get involved in reviewing the By Laws and in nominating
and voting, there will be even more interest in voting and in becoming members.
3. By-Laws Committee Report –David
Hoffman
The Committee is working on and considering a completely new set of
By Laws – a “restatement.” We
decided against working on clauses piecemeal, as it was too difficult a task.
We now have a first draft that meets Iowa nonprofit corporate law and is clear.
Our
goal is to have a set of living By-Laws that can be followed and can be understood
by any new member joining the organization.
4. Seminar in Israel –Rose
Lerer Cohen
Rose: noted that it was decided to hold the Seminar in the second week
in April.
We are doing this with Beth Hatefutsoth. They are very central and
can be reached by many ways. They also have all of the audiovisual equipment
we need.
5. The Chicago Conference
The Board discussed the scheduling of LitvakSIG
progamming at the Chicago conference,
including what proposals have been submitted for presentations of Litvak
interest.other presentations submitted?
Howard has submitted a proposal for a lecture on”Lithuanian Research,
New Projects and Developments” and will cover two projects he is
working on; David submitted two talks. It would be nice if we could have
time for Birds of a Feather meetings – for towns or larger areas.
Meeting
adjourned 1:39 pm Pacific Time
Respectfully Submitted,
David Hoffman
Secretary
