LitvakSIG Honored at 20th IAJGS Conference!
The entire LitvakSIG community -- those who
helped create the All Lithuania Database (ALD) and those who have found listings
of our families and clues to their past in it -- are extremely proud of the
recognition that the ALD received at the recently held Conference of the
International Association of Jewish Genealogical Societies.
On July 13, 2000, LitvakSIG was the proud recipient of the
"Outstanding Contribution via the Internet Award" which was presented
at the Final Banquet of the 20th International Conference on Jewish Genealogy in
Salt Lake City, Utah, USA.
The award plaque, which was accepted by LitvakSIG President
Davida Noyek Handler, reads:
"OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION
VIA THE INTERNET AWARD
Presented to the
LitvakSIG
FOR CREATING THE ALL LITHUANIA DATABASE
In recognition of an outstanding database, which continues
to draw data from many sources into the largest searchable database
of Lithuanian Jewish records on the internet. This database not only
helps countless researchers, but also should serve as a source
of pride to the leaders and volunteers of the LitvakSIG whose
cooperative energy has resulted in this outstanding achievement.
INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF JEWISH GENEALOGICAL SOCIETIES
Howard Margol, President
July 13, 2000 "

None of this would ever have happened without the commitment
and expertise of JewishGen's Michael Tobias and Warren Blatt, LitvakSIG's
Database Manager, Anne Rothman, our Web Master, Trevor Tucker, Carol Coplin
Baker, Richard Hoffman, Devera Witkin, plus our
dedicated District Coordinators -- Saul Adelman, Carol
Coplin Baker, Judy Baston, Deena A. Berton, Dick Goldman, David Hoffman, Batya
Olsen, Robyn Perlin, Joel Ratner, Joanne Saltman, Richard Winer, and Michael
Witkin -- and all the many translators and proofreaders, with their devotion and
commitment to quality control.
And, of course, none of this would have happened without each
and everyone of you, our loyal LitvakSIG members, who have contributed so
generously towards the acquisition, translation, and production of this very
important resource for Lithuanian Jewish genealogical research.
May we continue to go Mi Chayil L'Chayil, from strength to strength.
